Colombia’s economy grew faster than expected in the first quarter, potentially boosting President Gustavo Petro’s leftist ally in this month’s presidential vote.

Gross domestic product expanded 2.2% in the first three months of the year, the statistics agency said Friday. That compares with a median forecast of 2% from analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. Economic activity grew 0.6% from the previous quarter.
