China’s Ministry of Justice said the European Union’s use of its foreign subsidies regulation in a probe of Chinese security firm Nuctech Co. constitutes improper extraterritorial jurisdiction and barred compliance with the measures.

Beijing said the bloc had improperly demanded broad and unnecessary information, located within China, during its probe into the security devices maker, according to a statement from the Chinese ministry. That violates international law and basic norms governing international relations, the statement said.
