After Trump Pardon Sports Boss Hunts for European Football Deals

In December last year, longtime sports and entertainment executive Tim Leiweke received a US presidential pardon. Now he’s looking to snap up a number of minority stakes in European football clubs.

Entrepreneur Equity Partners, the fund led by Leiweke, this month invested in Venezia FC and is currently in talks to buy a stake in Benfica. Leiweke is also pursuing minority stakes in additional clubs, according to a person familiar with the situation, in a bid to build a multi-club presence across European football.
