Duterte Ally Sought for Drug War Escapes After Gunfire in Senate
The lawmaker at the center of the latest political crisis in the Philippines has left the Senate building where he was holed up this week to avoid arrest, hours after gunfire in the complex triggered chaos and confusion.
The senator, Ronald Dela Rosa, had taken refuge in the building since Monday after agents from the National Bureau of Investigation sought to serve an arrest warrant for him from the International Criminal Court. Despite heavy security and intense public attention, he slipped out of the complex early Thursday, according to Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla.
