Philippine Military Says Senate Security Fired Shots Wednesday
The Philippines’ military chief said the Senate’s security was responsible for the gunshots fired Wednesday evening inside the chamber’s building, where a lawmaker wanted by the International Criminal Court has sought refuge from authorities seeking his arrest.
Armed Forces Chief of Staff Romeo Brawner Jr. told reporters Thursday that the Senate’s Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms, which provides security for the building, had fired the shots. He didn’t provide further details.
