India called for solidarity at a meeting of BRICS foreign ministers on Thursday, as New Delhi seeks to bridge divisions within the bloc over the conflict in the Middle East.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is among those attending the two-day meeting in New Delhi, with Tehran urging the group to condemn the US and Israel’s military campaign against it and seeking India’s backing to forge a consensus. But the United Arab Emirates, which joined the bloc in 2024, has been a target of Iranian missile strikes during the war and is unlikely to agree.
