Renewables Shielded Spain from Volatile Prices, Minister Says

Spain’s growing reliance on renewable energy has helped keep power prices stable even as the war in the Middle East drives up the cost of oil and gas, said Sara Aagesen, the country’s minister for environmental transition.

Solar and wind capacity in Spain grew 150% since 2018, Aagesen told reporters in Cyprus ahead of an informal meeting of European Union energy ministers.
