Milken to Debut Toronto Summit as Canada Draws Global Elite

The Milken Institute is planning its first summit in Toronto later this year as Prime Minister Mark Carney’s push to get the attention of global investors gains traction.

The institute plans to expand into Canada partly because the country has been diverging from the US in political and policy terms over the past two years, according to people with knowledge of the matter, asking not to be identified discussing the plans. US President Donald Trump launched a tariff war on Canada after returning to the White House last year and referred to it numerous times a potential 51st US state.
