US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace for Gaza is preparing a 15-point plan for the disarmament of Hamas, a key obstruction to reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts in the war-ravaged territory.

There are two versions of the so-called road map under discussion, according to Nickolay Mladenov, the lead envoy for the board, which was put in place after an Israel-Hamas ceasefire was agreed in October. Hamas can have a political future if it commits to peace, he told reporters in Jerusalem on Wednesday, while safe passage to third countries may be offered to members of the group who don’t wish to participate.
