Senegal’s Faye, IMF Agree to Press Ahead With Debt Talks

Senegal and the International Monetary Fund agreed to continue talks to address the fallout from billions of dollars in previously undisclosed debt and map a way forward.

Discussions between President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on the sidelines of the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, focused on “debt sustainability and potential pathways toward a solution,” Senegal’s presidency said in a statement Tuesday. Talks will continue during upcoming IMF missions, with Faye “personally overseeing” the matter, it said.
