Russia plans to deploy its nuclear-capable Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile by the end of the year, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

The country’s military conducted a successful test of the weapon, the commander of the Strategic Missile Forces, Sergey Karakayev, told the Russian leader during a televised meeting on Tuesday. He said the first regiment equipped with the missile would be put on duty by the end of the year in the Krasnoyarsk region.
