Global orders for gas turbines will “decline slightly” this year from 2025, but remain strong due to the build-out of data centers, according to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., a major manufacturer of the equipment used in power plants.

Demand would be 70 to 100 gigawatts in 2026, compared with 100 gigawatts last year, Mitsubishi Heavy President Eisaku Ito said on an earningsBloomberg Terminal press conference on Tuesday. Orders will likely to stay around 70 gigawatts annually in the five years through 2030, he said. The company expects “significant order opportunities and inquiries” to continue, Ito said.
