Japan’s Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama confirmed that her team is coordinating closely with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on currency policy, signaling tacit US approval of Japan’s recent suspected market intervention.

“Regarding recent currency moves, we confirmed that Japan and the US have been coordinating very well and have maintained close communication,” Katayama told reporters Tuesday after talks with Bessent in Tokyo.
