One American passenger linked to the Hondius cruise ship outbreak has tested positive for the Andes strain of hantavirus and another is showing mild symptoms, US health authorities said, as 17 citizens are being repatriated from the vessel.

All 17 are being flown to the US via a State Department airlift, with two passengers traveling in biocontainment units “out of an abundance of caution,” the Department of Health and Human Services said late Sunday in a post on X.
