New Zealand’s government plans a law change to prevent private legal action against greenhouse gas emitters, arguing cases have created business uncertainty and deterred investment.

The Government will amend the Climate Change Response Act to prevent findings of liability for tort for climate change damage or harm caused by greenhouse gas emissions in both current and future proceedings before the courts, Justice Minister Paul Goldsmith said Tuesday in Wellington.
