Qatar’s LNG Tanker U-Turns After Attempt to Pass Through Hormuz
A tanker loaded with liquefied natural gas from Qatar appeared to have turned back from the Strait of Hormuz after initially approaching the waterway, reflecting continued uncertainty over regional energy flows.
The Mihzem has changed its direction away from Hormuz, though it continues to signal Pakistan as its next destination, according to ship-tracking data compiled by Bloomberg. Earlier Monday, the vessel — which loaded a shipment from Qatar’s Ras Laffan plant in late February — headed to an area in the strait that Iran claims to control, following the country’s negotiations with Pakistan.
