Counting is underway in elections in Scotland, where the pro-independence Scottish National Party is seeking a fifth term in government and Reform UK hopes to become the largest opposition party.

Most results of voting for the Edinburgh parliament will be announced on Friday afternoon, with a final result that evening. Scotland is a key component of regional elections that could end with the UK’s three devolved legislatures controlled by parties that want to leave the United Kingdom.
