Nintendo Plans Switch 2 Price Increase as Outlook Disappoints
Nintendo Co. said it will increase the price of its Switch 2 console to $500 from $450, acknowledging pressure on profitability of its flagship device heading into its second year on the market.
The Kyoto-based company will make the global change on Sept. 1, it said in reporting its full-year earnings on Friday. It offered a surprisingly downbeat outlook for performance in the current year, with a forecast of ¥370 billion ($2.4 billion) in operating profit far below the ¥480 billion average of analyst estimates.
