Schools in Mexico will end the academic year on June 5, about 40 days earlier than planned, because of a combination of extreme temperatures and the World Cup.
Secretary of Education Mario Delgado said in a post that in response to many requests, the National Council of Educational Authorities unanimously decided to move up the date from July 15. Schools will start the next academic year Aug. 31, he said, compared with Sept. 1 in 2025.
