Ukraine said it hit a major oil refinery deep inside Russia, as Moscow and Kyiv exchanged strikes ahead of Victory Day celebrations.

Explosions were recorded in the area of Lukoil PJSC’s Permnefteorgsintez refinery in Perm, about 1,500 kilometers (930 miles) east of Moscow, according to Ukraine’s General Staff. A primary crude processing unit as well as other equipment caught fire, it said in a Telegram statement.
