New Zealand’s Dollar Has Scope to Strengthen, Anahata CIO Says
New Zealand’s currency may have room to strengthen as solid export prices and a pickup in credit demand suggest monetary policy may be too loose, Brian Quartarolo, chief investment officer at Anahata Capital Management, told Bloomberg Television.
The terms of trade have been “incredibly robust,” Quartarolo, a former Reserve Bank of New Zealand official, told BTV’s Shery Ahn and Haidi Stroud-Watts on Thursday. “I think that the New Zealand dollar has some catching up to do, he said, citing early signs of recovery in private-sector borrowing and the prospect of additional fiscal support after the national election this year.
