Cambodia signaled a possible opening to ease Myanmar’s isolation within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, as sentiment by some members is warming toward bringing the crisis-worn nation’s leadership back into the fold.

Speaking in an interview on the sidelines of the Asean summit in the Philippines on Thursday, Kung Phoak, Secretary of State at Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, pointed to steps including the release of more than 4,000 prisoners and the transfer of former leader Aung San Suu Kyi to house arrest as grounds to deepen engagement.
