Philippines Seeks Asean Access to Myanmar’s Aung San Suu Kyi

The Philippines on Wednesday called on Myanmar to give an Asean envoy access to Aung San Suu Kyi and provide greater transparency over her transfer to house arrest.

The Philippines urged Myanmar to allow the detained former leader to communicate with her family to demonstrate a “genuine commitment to national reconciliation,” according to a Department of Foreign Affairs statement.
