Ghana Inflation Snaps Months of Decline on Iran War Impact
Ghana’s inflation rate increased for the first time in 16 months as the surge in global energy prices caused by the conflict in the Middle East drove up domestic fuel costs.
Consumer prices rose 3.4% year-on-year in April, compared with 3.2% in the previous month, Government Statistician Alhassan Iddrisu told reporters at a press briefing in Accra, the capital, on Wednesday. It’s the first time the inflation rate has risen since December 2024. Prices increased 1% in the month.
