FIFA Head Defends World Cup Prices After 500 Million Orders

FIFA President Gianni Infantino defended the price of tickets for World Cup matches after backlash from fans and US lawmakers concerned high costs are deterring visitors for the tournament starting next month.

FIFA received 500 million ticket requests before this year’s tickets went on the market, compared with fewer than 50 million requests for the World Cup in 2018 and 2022, Infantino said Tuesday during a panel at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Beverly Hills.
