The former owner of British football club Sheffield Wednesday is in negotiations to receive partial loan repayment if the team gets promoted to higher leagues in the next few years, according to people familiar with the situation.

Thai businessman Dejphon Chansiri oversaw Sheffield Wednesday as it descended into administration, the UK’s bankruptcy process, and was a major creditor of the club. The team was acquired last week by a group of Americans led by David Storch.
