Inflation in Peru’s capital unexpectedly accelerated for a sixth month in April to hit the fastest pace since late 2023.

Consumer prices rose 4.01% last month in Lima over the last 12 months, higher than March’s 3.80% reading, according to data released Friday by the national statistics agency INEI. The result was above the 3.70% median estimate of economists surveyed by Bloomberg. It’s the highest annual print since October 2023’s 4.34% reading.
