Romania Sets Stage for Premier’s Ouster With No Confidence Bid
Romania moved a step closer to losing its prime minister after the former ruling party unexpectedly joined forces with the far right opposition to file a no-confidence vote against the minority government.
The motion, filed by the Social Democrats and the Alliance for the Unity of Romanians, or AUR, was signed by more than 250 lawmakers, comprising a majority in parliament, AUR leader George Simion said on Tuesday. Such support would carry the vote that’s likely to take place on May 5 and end Ilie Bolojan’s 10-month premiership.
