EU Targets Deal on Carbon Market Overhaul in First Quarter 2027

The European Union aims to agree on a planned reform of its flagship carbon market by early next year as part of a broader effort to speed up key changes to boost the bloc’s competitiveness.

The European Commission plans to deliver a proposal in July to overhaul the Emissions Trading System after 2030. The bloc is targeting a deal between member states and the European Parliament on the final shape of the reform in the first quarter of 2027, according to a document on the EU common market seen by Bloomberg News.
