Michael Dell Gives $750 Million for Medical Hub at UT Austin
Michael Dell famously started his computer business from a University of Texas dorm room. Now he’s giving back to the school with one of the largest philanthropic commitments in American higher education.
Dell and his wife, Susan, will donate $750 million to the university’s flagship Austin campus to help the school build new research centers in life sciences and academic medicine. The gift will establish the UT Dell Campus for Advanced Research and the UT Dell Medical Center, while also funding undergraduate scholarships, student housing and a supercomputing research center.
