Magnum Ice Cream Co., the maker of Ben & Jerry’s, Breyers and Klondike bars, has become one of the most popular short bets in Europe as it grapples with shrinking profits and changing consumer appetites.

Shares out on loan, a proxy for short interest, has jumped to 19% of shares available for trading, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence data as of April 17. That’s more than double the level from a month ago. The company is now the 18th most-shorted stock in Europe’s Stoxx 600 Index, the data show.
