Ilya Remeslo, a pro-Kremlin activist who said he spent time in a psychiatric hospital after lashing out at President Vladimir Putin in a series of posts on Telegram last month, has reappeared with more critical messages aimed at the Kremlin.

Remeslo said he’d stayed at the medical facility in St. Petersburg for 30 days, describing conditions there as worse than in a penal colony. While he didn’t indicate whether his confinement was a reprisal for his posts, he noted that “harsh criticism of high-ranking state officials comes at a price” and said he’d avoid personal attacks in future.
