Average ETF Lifespan Collapses With Wall Street Antsy for Scale

Exchange-traded fund issuers are shutting new products at the fastest pace in years as competition for investor money intensifies.

The average lifespan of an ETF liquidated in 2026 has fallen to one year and nine months, according to a Bloomberg Intelligence reportBloomberg Terminal. That compares with an average age of three years and six months in 2025 and about four years and eight months in 2024.
