Long-standing tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan reignited this year, marking the end of a fragile ceasefire.

The two sides have clashed repeatedly since February, exchanging attacks on each other’s territory. In the deadliest incident so far, Pakistani airstrikes hit a drug rehabilitation clinic in Kabul on March 17, killing hundreds of people, according to Afghanistan’s government. The escalation risks triggering a more intense conflict.
