Iran Loaded Crude From Its Kharg Island Terminal on Saturday
Oil facilities on Kharg island, Iran.
Iran continued loading crude onto tankers at its Kharg Island oil terminal on Saturday, a week after the US and Israel launched air attacks against the Persian Gulf country. It’s unclear whether loading operations have continued, with no new satellite images since then.
Two very-large crude carriers, each capable of hauling about 2 million barrels of oil, were moored at loading jetties on either side of the island, according to a satellite image from the European Union’s Copernicus Browser timed at 10:48 a.m. local time on Saturday. With no images covering Kharg Island since that day, it’s unclear whether the loading terminal has continued to operate.
