Iran’s navy suffered devastating losses in the last week, with most of its surface vessels damaged or destroyed, leaving the country to depend on a fleet of smaller ships such as midget submarines and missile-equipped speedboats.

All three of Iran’s larger Kilo-class submarines, using Soviet Union-era designs, are most likely out of commission, the International Institute of Strategic Studies said. Researchers there found two were non-operational before the war, while the third was most likely destroyed at its berth.
