OpenAI Releases New Financial-Services Tools, Rivaling Anthropic

OpenAI is releasing a new flagship artificial intelligence model and a suite of financial-services tools that are meant to be better at tackling office work, ramping up competition with Anthropic PBC as the rival firm faces new risks from a showdown with the Pentagon.

The model, GPT-5.4, is more capable of taking on tasks like generating spreadsheets, documents and presentations, and requires less back-and-forth with a user, OpenAI said Thursday. It’s also meant to be better at using the web to get answers to tricky questions, such as by finding information from several sources, analyzing it and coming up with a response.
