Iran Kept Loading Crude at Kharg Island Two Days After US Air Strikes
Iran continued loading crude onto tankers at its Kharg Island oil terminal on Monday, two days after the US and Israel launched air attacks against the Persian Gulf country. It’s unclear whether loading operations have continued as the conflict has intensified, with no new satellite images since then.
One very-large crude carrier, capable of hauling about 2 million barrels of oil, was moored at a loading jetty on the eastern side of the island, according to a satellite image from the European Union’s Copernicus Browser timed at 10:47 a.m. local time on Monday. With no images covering Kharg Island since that day, it’s unclear whether the loading terminal has continued to operate.
