Rush to Buy Korean Chip Stocks Sparks Wild Global ETF Moves

A wave of global money chasing high-flying shares of South Korean chipmakers is spurring abnormal moves and volumes in exchange‑traded funds.

Daily turnover in the US-listed iShares MSCI South Korea ETF soared to a record high of $6.4 billion Thursday. Korean chip ETFs have also seen volumes climb in Hong Kong, and a Shanghai-traded semiconductor fund had to halt trading Friday after its premium spiked.
