New Zealand Hydro Generators Get More Flexibility in Dry Years

New Zealand’s electricity regulator has approved rule changes that will make it easier for hydro generators to access more water during a dry year.

The changes to the Security of Supply Forecasting and Information Policy will be in place before winter this year and will “materially improve” how much water can be released before lakes fall below critical levels, the Electricity Authority said in a statement Friday in Wellington.
