The European Central Bank has found that its staff are disillusioned about professional development, fairness and transparency — a troubling mix as the institution leans heavily on their expertise to navigate a challenging global environment.

Only 40% of employees in a poll were happy with their chances to climb the career ladder, with fewer regularly taking such opportunities. More than a third feel they can’t freely express their views without fear of negative consequences.
