Iceland’s Prime Minister Kristrun Frostadottir said her nation will hold a referendum on reopening talks with the European Union on potential membership in “the next few months.”
“We are going forward in the next few months — possibly,” Frostadottir said at a news conference in Warsaw with her Polish counterpart Donald Tusk on Wednesday. “We haven’t decided finally on the date but in the coming months we’re going to have a referendum on opening up the accession negotiations for Iceland possibly joining the EU.”
