Kenya Central Bank Signals Further Easing After 10 Rate Cuts
Kenya’s central bank has room to lower interest rates further, according to Governor Kamau Thugge, after cutting its benchmark 10 times over the past year-and-a-half to spur economic growth.
The Central Bank of Kenya has reduced the rate to 8.75% from a 12-year high of 13% in June 2024. There’s “scope for additional easing to stimulate the economy a bit more without having inflationary pressures,” should the global environment remain unchanged, Thugge said Tuesday.
