US Regulators Plan Guide for When Business Rivals Can Share Data

The US antitrust agencies are seeking public comments to help craft new guidelines to ensure businesses can better understand when cooperation between rivals within the same industry is allowed, including when they can share data or pricing information.

The Federal Trade Commission and the Justice Department, which jointly enforce US antitrust laws, said Monday that the public input will help shape the new guidelines. Rival companies are generally barred from working together except in certain circumstances, such as designing widely used industry standards.
