Canadian Consumer Confidence Hits Post-Tariff High as Youth Lead Rebound
Canadian consumer confidence climbed to its highest level since US President Donald Trump first threatened 25% tariffs on the country’s goods in late 2024, with young adults driving a burst of optimism even as the housing market and labor data flash mixed signals.
The Bloomberg Nanos Canadian Confidence Index registered 53.15 in the week ended Feb. 13, up from 50.16 four weeks earlier, according to data released Tuesday. A reading above 50 indicates net positive views. The latest result marks the strongest level since November 2024.
