Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan is pressing for his release, citing a deteriorating eye condition in prison, as his allies enter the third day of a sit-in protest in parliament.

Khan’s legal team filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court on Saturday seeking his release on medical grounds, saying he has lost most of the vision in his right eye due to a blood clot. The petition, reviewed by Bloomberg, also calls for the suspension of a Dec. 2025 sentence that sent him to prison for 17 years for undervaluing state assets — a designer jewelry set and a watch — during his tenure.
