Brazil Senator Flavio Bolsonaro failed to make a strong first impression among the very investors he is courting as he emerges as the main right-wing contender in this year’s presidential vote.

His high-stakes presentation before executives at BTG Pactual’s CEO Conference this week lacked details and a concrete road map, according to four attendees who requested anonymity to speak about the matter. The candidate’s pitch — delivered by video rather than in-person — underwhelmed with vague pledges of tax cuts and fiscal policy adjustments, failing to mark a decisive break from policies under leftist incumbent Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, they said.
