Singapore’s spending plan to address high cost of living will likely benefit consumers and the retail sector, potentially giving local stocks another boost after they hit an all-time high.

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on Thursday unveiled cash handouts for households and fresh support for workers, the elderly and small businesses in his budget speech. The city-state will also look into efforts to integrate artificial intelligence in key areas and allow companies to claim AI expenditure for tax deductions and allowances, among other measures.
