China Slams Taiwan’s ‘Sycophantic’ Praise of Takaichi’s Win

China harshly condemned Taiwan after it congratulated Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on her big election victory, highlighting its testy relationship with both Tokyo and Taipei.

Taiwan’s “obsequious and sycophantic attitude is despicable,” said Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the government department in Beijing that handles issues related to the island.
