French exports of wine and spirits fell to their lowest volume in at least 20 years, as trade tensions and weak demand hit sales.

“In volume, our exports have been on a slump and are at their lowest level in at least 20 years,” Gabriel Picard, president of FEVS, the country’s federation of wine and spirit exporters, said in an interview at the Wine Paris fair on Tuesday. Sales by value have been dwindling since 2022, he added.
